Fizzing Colour Fun- Play with the rainbow

Fizzing colour funFizzing colour fun is an easy relatively mess free and inexpensive learning activity to brighten up any day and play with the rainbow.

All you will need is three basic kitchen ingredients.  I have been known to whip out the fizzing colours or  when I am trying to keep Sweets entertained while I am working from home, or to brighten up a rainy day.

This experiment provides a fun opportunity to discus the classic chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar, while also exploring colours and colour mixing.

You will need:

    • box of baking soda
    • small bowl of white vinegar
    • medicine dropper
    • food colouring or liquid watercolours
    • baking sheet

Fizzing colour Fun experiment:

  1. Sprinkle baking soda all over the baking sheet, shake the baking sheet back and forth to evenly distributed
  2. Using food colouring or water colours squeeze drops of colour all over the baking sheet
  3. Add a drop of vinegar on top of each colour drop and watch them and let the fizzing colour fun begin.
